Projects
Clarkson Presidents Challenge
Aug 2022 - Oct 2022
Clarkson President Marc P. Christensen challenged the student body to design and construct a giant Rube Goldberg machine to shoot a hockey puck into a goal. I served as the Ice team lead, ensuring that the machine was inserted and removed from the ice in a safe and timely manner.
Hack The Pandemic
Mar 2020 - Jan 2022
Hack The Pandemic is a driven group of Makers, Designers, and Volunteers that work with healthcare providers to develop PPE to combat the COVID-19 Pandemic
OSR Robotics Research
Sept 2018 - June-2022
The OSR program at my school has offered me the opportunity to conduct a research study regarding several novel means of navigation on the Carnegie Mellon Mini-RHex robotic platform. The 4 year program culminates with a set of research competitions where students will present their work to a panel of judges.
FTC 2020
Sept 2019 - Mar 2020
Our robot this year is built around two main components; The intake and the lift. We use a compliant wheel intake system on the front of the robot. This allows for the blocks to be picked up from multiple angles. The lift system picks up the blocks and stacks them on our tower. You can read more about the specifics of each component below.
MATE 2019
Mar 2019 - Apr 2019
The MATE ROV competition is a real world inspired competition that challenges students to build a Remotely Operated Vehicle to solve a set of maintenance and upkeep tasks commonly done by divers. The 2019 season challenge was based around hydroelectric power plant maintenance. Our robots had to look for pollutants in the water, install and remove filters, and check for wildlife in certain areas.
FTC 2019
Sept 2018 - Mar 2019
For the 2018-19 FIRST Tech Challenge competition, Rover Ruckus, our team was challenged to design, build, and test a robot capable of solving a strict set of challenges. The robot was tasked with landing from a "landing unit" and collecting gold and silver minerals from a mineral depot inside a simulated crater. Our robot used a collection bucket at the end of a linear slide to extend down into the crater and retrieve these minerals.
Hovercrafts
April 2015 - April 2016
My set of Hovercraft was my first major project. These craft were made out of flooring underlay and shower pan liner to make them resilient enough to stand up to long days of demonstrations. Each unit is powered by either a leaf blower and generator or an array of modified bouncy castle fans.
Paint Can Metal Foundry
Mar 2016
Inspired by a YouTube video, I built my own mini aluminum foundry out of common hardware store components.
Green Thumb Watering Controller
Oct 2017 - Mar 2018
The Green Thumb Watering Control System was my first time experimenting with IOT development and small scale rollout.
